ABOUT CANNY HOOLIT CRAFTS

I'm Helen, creator and owner of Canny Hoolit Crafts. I love travelling around Scotland, bagging Munros, running, and exploring with my wee Patterdale Terrier.

What does the name mean?

I've been drawn to owls for a while now...not sure why, but they pop up in my life from time to time. The Scots word for an owl is 'hoolit' (or hoolet, houlet, howlet etc - although according to the Urban Dictionary 'hoolit' means drunk, which could also be appropriate!)

A couple of years ago I did a personality test ( How to Fascinate with Sally Hogshead ) and my 'personality archetype' was The Wise Owl (primary advantage Mystique and secondary advantage Trust).

I then turned my archetype completely into Scots and it became 'The Canny Hoolit' - canny meaning careful/knowing/wise/cautious (it can also mean frugal but that's not what I'm going for!)

So there you have it - the Canny Hoolit = the Wise Owl
